the way of the rose

A warm welcome to my site, my name is Julia Casciola and I am a language editor based in Cape Town. I help people to transmit their ideas with precision and grace so that their message is clear and of benefit.

I also make art pieces of the sacred feminine, including wooden icons on hand-carved rare woods, and altarpieces (luminous windows) on 100% cotton paper.

About

My name is Julia and I am an editor, soul artist, and mother. I believe in the power of the gift, namely that we are each given gifts (some more deeply hidden than others) to bring forth within ourselves and offer back to life. And that the way forward for the world depends on this from us all.

At 30 I went through an awakening experience that began an inner journey and love story that has coloured my life.

Professionally, I studied English at university and have over two decades’ experience editing international publications. Today I work increasingly with heart and head combined. Years of editing and reading have brought an instinctive recognition of ‘live words and dead words’, and it is this service that I have felt called to offer. I tell this story in two of my blog posts (Live words and dead words and Rebirth of the written word).

I also make icons and altarpieces of the sacred feminine, inspired by the botanical kingdom and mountains around Cape Town. You can read about them on this website. It is my dream to live in nature, with a small studio near a monastery, to know the rhythms of earth and sky again, to make beauty from wilderness, and to participate in creating a more wonderful world for all life forms.
